If you could be a mermaid?

what if i was a mermaid but you didn't know until one day while i wasn't looking around at my surrounds, i jumped in to the pool and transformed. and my hot pink tail was flapping in the water. you screamed and then i looked up and saw you. then i said holding a pearl, "don't be afraid okay? u can become one to." what would u do?
