How do you know if a new flashlight bulb is compatible?

I want to buy a new bulb for my pelican m6 flashlight. I preferably want 500 lumens or more but the standard replacement bulb just doesn't offer that power. It takes 2 lithium batteries. So when shopping how do I know which bulbs will work and fit?
